An enjoyable and sociable summer sundowner at the clubrooms welcomed players, administrators and supporters back to the club for 2012 on a warm Perth Thursday evening.
While the young guns from the Academy were drilled relentlessly by Under 18s coach Keith Reid, Under 20s coach JT and first grade coach Dean Carlisle, senior players enjoyed a game of touch and an encouraging gathering of the club's finest welcomed the new season with several much-appreciated beverages.
Some of the club's dream teams were in action in the catering department — Grunter and Debbie Hutson and Shona and Lance Annan serving up the snags at the barbie, while Di Scholes and Dwayne The Train Barr handled the all-important bar service.
El Presidente Noel 'Fridge' Spittal declared the evening a runaway success.
"I just want to congratulate everyone on the success of last night's meet and greet at the club," our peerless leader proclaimed.
"It was great to see the amount of new faces that came down to check out the club.
"I also want to say a special thanks to Di and her admin team for the huge effort they put in to make the night so enjoyable with the barbecue and bar ... nothing like a cold beer and snag to make people feel welcome.
"If last night is any indication, things are looking very bright for 2012."
