Perth-Bayswater first grade may have had its finals chances stolen by RugbyWA's ludicrous distribution of Western Force professionals, losing to a second-from-bottom University bolstered by four Force players including Australia Under 20 captain, David Pocock.
At McGillivray Oval, first grade dropped to sixth with a 27-15 loss to University and now face a huge mountain to climb to make the finals with six teams in the running in a very tight competition. University benefited enormously from the presence of Pocock, lock Sam Wykes, halfback James Stannard and lock Tom Murday. With Pocock outstanding, the professional players proved too much for an injury-depleted Perth-Bayswater, and with plenty of possession the students went ahead 22-0 at half time. Perth-Bayswater struck back in the second half to control territory but the damage had been done.
In other grades, second grade lost to University 41-27 and third grade lost to Curtin 39-3.
