PERTH-BAYSWATER'S FINEST IN STARRING ROLES

22 August 2008

Murphy's Law -- Perth-Bayswater wins lineouts

Brent Murphy doing what he does best

Congratulations to two of Perth-Bayswater's finest, from two of the club's most well known families:

Brent Murphy, first grade lock and an oustanding member of the premiership-winning team of 2007, is on tour with the Western Force in the UK and played in the first string side against the Northhampton Saints. This is a fantastic development opportunity for our rising star lock forward, playing along side the full time professionals from the state's Super 14 team. The Force lost to Northampton unfortunately but no doubt Brent gave 100% as always, and hopefully the opportunity could lead to bigger and better things.

Michael Whitney, former first grade flyhalf and current fifth grade weary warrior, recently played in the national police rugby championships in Sydney after being selected for the Western Australian Police XV. Mike is also a former Australian Schoolboy, touring the NZ South Island in 1999 with the Australian Division 2 Schools Team. Whits was at the centre of an international mystery in 2007 when the name "Michael Whitney, Perth-Bayswater, Australia" was noted amongst the team list for the Maltese national team participating in the minor nations European competition. Your intrepid investigative reporters are still looking into that one.
