JT LOOKS FOR NEW CHALLENGES

26 November 2009

JT

First grade coach John 'JT' Taylor has moved to the Palmyra club for the 2010 season after four years — including the 2007 premiership — with Perth-Bayswater, and asked the following statement to be read to members at the recent Annual General Meeting.

To all members of the PBRFC.

My time as head coach and coaching co-ordinator has closed. I want to say to you all that I have loved every minute of the time that I have had in leading your on field program here. The warm welcome that you all extended to myself , Jacque and our family will always be part of my treasured memories.

There will always be regrets but I harbour none because I know that deep down I have given my absolute heart and soul to this club. I have strived to better the rugby program here — time will be my judge I suspect, when all of the academy boys start rolling into the senior ranks.

There will always be detractors but I say to them instead of moaning, put your hand up. There are never enough people to fill the multitude of positions needed to operate a successful club. And I say to all the sideline coaches and managers put your hand up and not out. It is easy to moan, demean and groan but not so easy to put yourself on the chopping block. With all of the knowledgeable chit-chat I have heard, especially this year, Baysie should have more than enough great coaches in 2010!! On the other side of the coin I say thanks to all of the coaches who have thanklessly given of their time, pockets and energy to ensure our players are nourished in this great game of ours.

I want to publicly thank all the players, the other coaches, the managers, the administrators, the volunteers, the supporters and all the mums and dads — PBRFC has a rich and diverse culture and a multi denominational membership. Draw on the strength of the people  — in the end that is all that counts.

Since I have been here we have tasted success but it is not that which is important. That is the outcome which all rugby people want. Rather it is the process of bettering our club, the players, the coaches and managers. It is about nuturing, development, mentoring and comradeship — all of the imponderables that make groups of people and clubs great.

Finally, I have ALWAYS been proud to be your head coach, but much more importantl, proud to be a Baysie man. It doesn't matter where I go or will end up, I will always have a  piece of Baysie in my heart.

Yours in Rugby

JT
