Wanderers was formed in 1990 before the International Golden Oldies Festival held in Perth, along with the now defunct team Perth Pro's. The club is named from the original Wanderers club which was formed in 1928 and was the forerunner of the Perth Rugby Club.
The team originally featured a number of players from the premiership-winning 1960s Perth teams, including some senior police officers, but most of these luminaries have now retired. The team fielded three players of 70 years of age in the international festival, including one Mr Maurice Pestana who some time later had to be retired for his own health and safety at the age of 90.

Meanwhile other members of this rugby strikeforce, including a couple of non-playing freeloaders and parasites, oops, sorry, supporters; celebrate the return to life of Shane (second from the left) who had been declared officially dead half an hour earlier.
