SUMMARY 2005
PREMIER GRADE Coach: Jamie Hohapata Manager: Natasha Watene It was the same old story for Premier Grade, some good patches, a few silly losses, at least one giant-killing exploit, a handful of games lost by a few points, usually at the death, and another year finishing seventh. The team started well with two wins from the first three games, but lost by one point to Kalamunda, and let Cott escape in injury time after leading 17-0. They lost to all the finalists, Kalamunda by one point AGAIN, but had their moment of glory when they knocked off the competition leader, University, at Morley Reserve. The team still lacks a few key players and a fair amount of composure, and yet again we are left lamenting what could have been. The team farewelled coach Jamie Hohapata at the end of the season after many years of sterling service at Perth-Bayswater. 7th in competition. Points for: 292 Points against: 476
RESERVE GRADE: Coach: Henry Rarere Manager: Gerry Pulker From finalists in 2004, Reserve Grade suffered this year from lack of depth at the top end of the club and managed just one win (over University) in the first round, with a 100% improvement in the second round for two wins. A disappointing year but thanks to coach and stalwarts who always turned up to do the job. 8th in competition. Points for - 183 Points against - 420
A GRADE Coach: Craig Robertson, Bruce Mathieson Manager: Kevin Thompson Thirds continued their horror run this year, battling from week to week with a team of steady triers who did their bit up against the odds. The team chalked up three wins in the first rounds but managed just two in the second. 13th in 17 team competition Points for - 244 Points against - 504
B GRADE: FINALISTS 2005 Coach: Andy Keen Manager: Grant Hutson Some things never change, despite the alarming passage of time, and the sorry collection of layabouts and alcoholics that make up Filthy Fifths had another great year of wonderful wins based on their only attribute, years and years and YEARS of experience. They finished runner up in the competition but succumbed to a last minute penalty against minor premiers Associates Green in the major semi-final. Already mentally playing the grand final, they saw the preliminary final stolen away from under them by Rockingham, and their season came to an untimely conclusion. 2nd in an 18 team competition Points for - 639 Points against - 125 Major semi-final: Perth 24 Associates Green 25 Preliminary final: Perth 11 Rockingham 15.
UNDER 19 : Coaches: John Piperis Manager: Pete Chislett A growth year for the club's colts team under John Piperis, playing some great rugby during the year. The team won five games and drew one in the first round but won only four in the second round, with two close losses. The team was just one game adrift of making the finals and deserve the club's congratulations for their attitude and hard work in this vital area. The club's future should be in good hands if this standard is maintained, and hopefully, improved upon. 7th in 14 team competition Points for - 391 Points against - 254
