SUMMARY 2006
FIRST GRADE
Coach: John 'JT' Taylor
Assis coaches: Peter Roberts and Lex Wilson
Manager: Barry Dorset
A new coach, from Marlborough New Zealand, brought encouraging changes to First Grade in 2006 but the team continued to lack strike power in the back line and were often caught short out wide. The forwards became a force to be reckoned with in the First Grade competition as the team compiled four wins in the first round, including the prize scalps of Cottesloe and Wests-Subiaco, but were disappointed to lose narrowly to Rockingham and Palmyra. The second round opened with an equally disappointing loss to Kalamunda but the team bounced back to upset Associates and University, and reverse their first round losses against Rockingham and Palmyra for five second round wins. JT is to be congratulated for the innovative methods and new attitude he has brought to the club and if recruiting goes well in the off season this team will be finalist material in 2007.

SECOND GRADE:
Coach: Bruce Mathieson
Assis coach: Steve Wharerau
Manager: Gerry Pulker
Another tough year for Seconds as the club continued to be brittle at the top end, Seconds struggling to one win and a draw in the first round. They were more competitive in the second round but still managed only two wins. A tough year for Bruce and Rau but full marks to them for developing the team under trying circumstances.
9th in competition.

FOURTH GRADE: FINALISTS 2006
Coach: Henry Rarere and Ray Mills
With Rugby WA coming to their senses again this year and re-introducing more manageable ten-grade competitions in thirds, fourths and fifths; the club opted to field a fourth rather than a third grade and the team performed with distinction after a rocky start to the season with four straight losses. The team responded with three straight wins and went on to sail through the second round without a loss until the final game. Fourths went into the finals in third place and defeated Bunbury in the minor semi-final before bowing out to Soaks in the preliminary final. Good work by Henry and Ray for a great season.

FIFTH GRADE: FINALISTS 2006
Coach: Andy Keen
Manager: Grant Hutson
Another year of quality rugby boosted by intensive training sessions at the bar for the evergreen stalwarts of Filthy Fifths, ably led by the mobile mechanical hooker and his henchman Grunter. This grade was more competitive than usual as some former fourth grade teams dropped down to give the old boys a run for their money, but unfazed by teams that indulged in perverted practices such as training and fitness regimes, Fifths stormed through the first round with seven wins, losing only to their arch-rivals, the glory boys from Neddies. Fifths managed a draw with Neddies in the second round but suffered unexpected setbacks against Mandurah and ARKs. They disposed of ARKs in the minor semi-final but lost by one point against Curtin in the preliminary final after beating them twice in the season.
3rd in competition
Points for - 435
Points against - 166
Major semi-final: Perth-Bayswater 22 ARKs 0
Preliminary final: Perth-Bayswater 12 Curtin 13.
UNDER 19: FINALISTS 2006
Coaches: Wally Murphy and Matt Groom.
The colts played in a new format this year, playing one round against teams throughout the competition and then dividing into two pools; Perth-Bayswater colts making the second division pool. Colts won eleven of their games during the year, which was a very creditable result and just reward for the hard work of Wally, Matt and their team of youngsters. They made the major semi-final of Under 19 Div II but went down to Kalamunda and then lost the preliminary final to Nedlands Gold, but a great year for the club's future players all the same.

Major semi-final: Perth-Bayswater 7 Kalamunda 17
Preliminary final: Perth-Bayswater 22 Nedlands Gold 27.
