Virtual Tour and Pub Crawl

Part 3

Fifteen minutes south and we're in Northbridge, just over the railway line from the city centre. It is the restaurant and nightclub centre of Perth and fairly rattling with nightlife any night of the week -- except when I took this photo of course, but then it was daytime at the time. Still, you get the general idea. Absolutely bags of fun. But come by public transport because parking around here is hopeless.

Fancy a beer in Northbridge? Silly question really. Here we are at the Brass Monkey Hotel, one of the Matilda Bay pubs which specialise in refined interiors, sophisticated atmospheres, and drunken rugby players lurching around making slobbering noises at all the cute chicky-babes in short skirts. They also brew their own beer, Redback, and not a bad drop it is either if I do say so myself. I've guzzled it, I mean, sipped it delicately, on the odd occasion or 19 and from what I can remember it is damn fine stuff. The food here is not bad either. Position yourself at a table on the first floor balcony on a warm Perth evening and you'll be able to look down the front of all the girls' tops below, no, sorry, I mean enjoy the scenic vista of Western Australian nightlife in full swing.

Inside the Brass Monkey a couple of visiting American sailors are having a Redback or two before heading off to kick seven kinds of crap out of Saddam Hussein. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was in port at the time, along with a whole bunch of other US naval vessels, seeing how much money thousands of yankee sailors could spend, before gearing up for the "George Does Baghdad Part Two" show. None of the hookers in Perth can walk by this stage and the souvenir shops are all sold out of koalas.
